I really wanted to love love love this as three people I know and love had read and raved. So maybe it’s expectations? Pretty sure most of life boils down to expectations and timing. Pretty sure.

Anyway!

This is sort of set today or in the near future with a few futuristic sort of norms. The first paragraph gives a clue that this is going to be a bit unconventional:

“I was supposed to be getting dressed for the party, the first since my murder. Instead, I was messing around with the shower drain, which was running at a creep, leaving the inside of the tub scaled with soap and peppered with dirt. So I wasn’t dressed, not a shoe, not an earring, not a panty. I was naked, in fact, and crouched in the tub, sending an unwound hanger down the drain after a wad of another woman’s hair.”

Wait, what is going on?!

Overall, an interesting approach to serial killer kind of mentality and fall out.

3.75 stars for me. Surprising and somehow a wee let down. Anything above 3.5 stars I recommend – maybe your timing and expectations and the rest are more in alignment.

So nice that daughter Anne subscribes to Book of the Month club and shares. Yay for me!
