I read this last year and saw someone at our cottage reading it this summer, so I re-read. I think I will re-read next summer. Or next winter when I need some delight.

Basically a rom-com set in Jane Austen times and style … this is my absolute sweet spot for escape and dreamy reading.

It harkens back to Pride and Prejudice and Emma and Bridgerton (though without the s.e.x.) and like the latest movie adaptation of Jane’s Persuasion, acknowledging the Regency era need for women to marry and making it work for her with a little cheekiness thrown in. Kitty Talbot – yes! Kitty, that rascal in P&P – boldly and naively seeks a wealthy man to save her family. Will she be able to secure a fortune? Ooh la la.
