If you read a book twice and it’s a five star experience both times, is it a ten star book?

Witty, wry, moving. The first time through I was a bit perplexed by 6:30 the dog character. And after a year of magical animals, animal narrators, and stories on our Books Chicks list, it seemed perfectly literary.

Elizabeth Zott is a memorable and inspiring character. A chemist to her core, she lives and works in the 1950’s world where men have the power, societal backing, and fragile egos to keep her from her potential. That’s so different from today, eh?

I love all the liberation that takes place for various characters.

Re-read for Book Chicks by listening to the audio version and fell in love with the book all over.

Then tried watching the Apple series. NO. No bueno! The series has a whiff of the book’s basic premise and very little of its intricacies. They changed entire story lines. Brie Larson is a great Elizabeth Zott. The screen play is a great lesson in Hollywood hijacking.

Something worth watching is this interview of author Bonnie Garmus on CBS Sunday Morning.
