Can you imagine a world without birds? Can you imagine what that would mean for the planet? For the other creatures? For the humans?
Eerie.
“The animals are dying. We will soon be alone here.” The opening sentence is ominous. Maybe that’s the better word for eerie.
The book is written in snippets jumping around in time – letters, entries, continents. It’s jumbled and adds to the edginess of the world. A difficult, messy, migration and life.
What redeemed the darkness of the theme was the wee hopefulness in the end.
Recommend. 4 stars.
