Hot off the presses Leif Enger? Yes, please. Another future-set-the-earth-is-a-shit-show read? Oof.
As with his last book, it’s set on the shores of Lake Superior, and for a Great Lakes gal like myself, that always feels like home. I loved the characters and I loved the title and tale’s ultimate message: optimism in the face of darkness; recovery we can grasp if we work together. Or to borrow from Roland Garros “Victory belongs to the most tenacious.”
Purchased at Parnassus Books, THE Ann Patchett’s bookstore in Nashville a few hours before the official release because my besties and I acted pathetic and begged, maybe.
Gorgeous prose and perilous plot. Five stars (despite my bummer of an earth-on-fire reading year)

I need to borrow this!!
