Ever have a character make you want to slap them upside the head and tell them “get it together!”? Meet Andy, 35, a recently jilted stand up comedian. I spent a lot of the book thinking: MOVE ON. GO TO THERAPY. The author let him wallow for a lot longer than I would have.
(And author Dolly Alderton did a good enough job of making me want to finish the story. I recently read a mopey main character book that I will be tossing the narrator made me so depressed.)
Rife with all the technology/social media stalking of this current generation, I liked the bits about the stand up comic behind the scenes, Andy’s friends, and when Jen tells her side of the story. This is a rom com where most of the rom is in the rear view mirror and the com is Andy’s life in the aftermath of the crash.
Cringy, funny, coming-of-adult story.
