my take: This reminded me of Olive Kitteridge (which I highly recommend, by the by) in that the narrator is a woman who knows what’s the what in a small town … Hildy Good is a real estate agent whose family tree goes back to the witch trials in that town.
I liked the tension between Hildy’s intuition and another character’s medical knowledge. I liked the various layers to the story, the stories of the town folk, and Hildy’s struggle with alcohol since I work with ladies in recovery.
my source: I think I found this reading Oprah’s book picks
my verdict: Great. Worth a read.
