When one sees a favorite author publish again … one hopes it will meet their standard.
This one does.
Written in letter format, this cathartic and timely novel about mass shootings also illuminates the struggles of mental health in the aftermath.
Luminous, tender, pain-filled. I was a weepy mess at the end.
5/5 stars
Looking forward to borrowing!

Gah, so good. I just love Matthew Quick’s characters, and his ability to make something both so sad and lovely at the same time… I really wish we didn’t need novels about dealing with gun violence, but in the world we live in, he’s the author to bring a bit of a balm for it.
