I hesitated to read this mainly because of it’s literal heft … reading in bed with this was not easy. And length. Sometimes a long book feels heavy and … long?
AND I enjoyed this much more than anticipated. I’d heard Anthony Doerr interviewed about it and it sounded complicated with all the switches between time periods in his telling about it. I found it easy enough to follow.
It’s an end of the world tale told through a story that resurfaces in various times in the history of the humankind and is an ode to libraries and learning.
