I love the trope of a story bound by the constraints of a place – mansion, island, boarding school, hospital. Give me people trapped on a cruise ship, submarine or yacht. In The Wedding People, the location is an oceanside hotel. The comings and goings, the mixed up rooms, elevator encounters, and buffet dining all create a small space for characters to mix & mingle.

Phoebe has checked in for a bit of a last hurrah before her life implodes. The wedding people have checked in for exclusive pre-nuptial festivities leading up to THE WEDDING. Mistaken for a wedding guest, Phoebe improvises and becomes essential to the matrimonial affair.

I classify this as fun, female, fiction which delivers substantial matters in an easy breezy way. Great escapist reading should you need that, great winter reading to make bleak days a little brighter, or great vacation reading to add pleasure to paradise.

4 stars.
