my take: this is right up my alley … informative, practical, full of anecdotal stories, (some of very famous people), self-helpy with lots of scientific studies. the authors set out to discover if willpower can be increased and, if so, how.
good news! yes, you can increase your willpower … but bad news! for people trying to lose weight. read that chapter, for sure.
i work with recovering drug addicts and alcoholics, so i was very interested in what part willpower plays. lots of interesting stuff there.
this is written in the breezy, interesting style of malcolm gladwell’s books – easy to read and lots of fun facts to drop at dinner parties or along the sidelines (soccer moms, et al).
